American football or “soccer” football?

As a US AMERICAN, posting on a US-based website, I made reference to US football. If I were conversing with a Spanish-speaking person I would have referred to it as fútbol americano.
As a US AMERICAN, if I were referncing “soccer football,” I would have written soccer or fútbol.
My goodness gracious.
Don’t forget the Canadians add an extra 10 meters on their football fields..as I recall...
