Re Acctually:

My grandson did it too. We heard “actually” many times a day.

I think it’s a sign of intelligence. They’ve found a way to be heard without rudely contradicting us. It also shows they value preciseness.

Our precious boy is ten now. We’ve seen him very little in the last year.
Enjoy your sweet boy and teach him well.

ThanQ, Mel!! Precisely precious.💓

He is now 8 years old and just started 3rd grade at the school only a few blocks from us! They lived with us during his K year, but since then we pick him up from school and he stays with us until his parents get off work.

Last evening, our son, with their just-turned 2-year-old in tow, picked him up from our house. I had been at a meeting and got back just in time to interact before they headed out. Our youngest grandson greeted me with, “I want M&Ms.”😂 And, of course, Granny - with son’s consent - obliged. Then, at littlest grandson’s next announcement, I got to change his stinky diaper.🤣

Blessings!

Kids, I think, are naturally curious about their grandparents as they get older. I know I was, even though my maternal grandmother tried to kidnap my sister on the day of my mother’s (her daughter’s) funeral 👀😱🤣 (horrifying, yet super funny now). My older sister and I tried our best when we could drive. But she was one strange bird. She lived an hour from us when we went to college. I do have a lot of lovely, valuable things she bought me when I was a child, from her travels.

The one thing I regret is that I was unaware that she had sent me a wedding gift. My parents (dad, stepmummy) thought it was horrible so threw it away. It was actually (there’s that word lol) a box of antique fabrics. Even if it was junk, let me decide. I was so mad. Then she changed her will and disinherited my sisters and I, so that was sad. But oh well. Twasn’t my money and I’m sure she was mad I never said thank you. There was hatred on both sides.. she hated my dad, my dad hated her.

OMG a funny.. I was in kindergarten when my younger sister was born. I came home from school to a locked house, no one there, all alone, thought I had been abandoned, when mean grandma roared up in her big car, screeched to a halt, got out with her witchy shoes and said.. “Quit yer crying, your mom’s just having a baby.” Ooookaaayyy.. not bad advice really. Haha, no simpering in our family!

Anywhoo, all that to say, not all is lost. Your grandson will get in touch with you when he’s older.

my grandson does it also. He’s absolutely brilliant. I like your take on it that they value preciseness. So true. I’ll never forget his dissertation on binary stars at the age of 9. Totally over my head though.
