I like the sentiment but do not like the verbiage. I would say "These two foundations of the Republic are the things the Left fears most."

Half the number of words and a stronger statement. Even better, "Two foundations of the Republic the left fears most" The picture does the rest.

But that's just me "Elements of Style"
