The element with atomic number 88 is Radium [Ra].
It's a soft, radioactive metal.
Pierre & Marie Curie discovered it in 1898, when they extracted it from uranium [U] pitchblende.
All isotopes of radium are radioactive. The most stable one is radium-226, with a half-life of 1,600 years.
In the early 20th century, charlatans hawked various fake "wonder drugs" containing radium, which had deadly effects, of course.
in the 1920s, five young women worked at US Radium, hand-painting the dials of luminous watches & alarm clocks.
The paint contained small amounts of radium.
They licked their small brushes to get a fine point for the detailed work.
Some of them became so contaminated that their faces & hair glowed in the dark.

Marie Curie became another victim of exposure to radioactive elements. She died in 1934 from aplastic anemia.
The Curies' papers from the 1890s are too dangerous to handle. Even Marie's cookbook is highly radioactive.

I looked up that particular watch a few years ago, with the intent of buying. Until I saw the price. They’re good watches, but they’re not cheap. Not even close to cheap!

I watched the video about the guy that shut off the water. It looks like something he made before the fire not after. Either way he was the one that shut the water off and wouldn’t turn it on during the fire. Which is at least third degree murder
