On a bright Saturday afternoon, State Trooper Al Loney witnessed a motorcycle travel 205 mph. You read that right.

So when was the police car speedo calibrated and what are the certification records of the technician....?
A true story...the fastest Indian...old geezer from New Zealand rebuilds an Indian motorcycle and hitches a ride on a freighter to long Island port...gets a record on the salt flats in Nevada.
Good movie- The World’s Fastest Indian.
“On a bright Saturday afternoon ...”
Well I’m glad it was bright, you would want good visibility at 205 mph.
My father borrowed one of his high school classmate’s 4 cylinder in line Indian to get home on leave.
It was cold and he did not have a heavy coat. The friend who owned the Indian, loaned him his officer’s heavy jacket.
The CO gave him the leave. Another officer tried to counter it. CO found out and told dad to go home.
So he was out of uniform and the MP’s saw he was out of uniform and followed. Not for long. Dad just throttled it and poof they were gone.
I can’t believe they didn’t know they passed a cop. First thing to do is get off of the main road and have a beer or something. No way they could get his plates at that speed.
Yeah, I sold mine in 1999, a Yamaha FRZ-1000. By far the fasted bike I ever owned.
Guy I sold it to scared himself and sold it within a few months. They are not for the timid or unskilled.
Traffic was only getting worse and drivers more aggressive.
Old bones do not heal as fast.
I once got a real friendly ticket for speeding.
The officer asked the Do you know why question and I answered “Yea, I’ve got a real good idea.”
It also didn’t hurt that I pulled over before he’d even finished his U-turn
It'll do oooover 200 mph!
We’re dating ourselves but it’s still a classic IMHO. I grew up wearing out the grooves of that record.
That’s obviously something you can bring up in court, and if it wasn’t recent, then the judge is likely to throw it out. However, when you are out of state, it’s more expensive to fight it than it is to pay it. 🙂
“ Busa?”
In my garage 2000 model unlimited
“And none of ‘em weighed 650 lbs”
Nobody races dump trucks. Cannot accelerate or stop quickly, what motorcycles supposed to excel at.
A handful of years ago, getting ready for work at 5 am and turned on the news to drink my coffee.
A long police chase was just ending live.
Biker started in S Dallas County (Texas y’all), went N into Collin Co, went back S back into S Dallas Co then W on IH-20 for another 25 miles.
The chase helicopters had to break off for refueling and a Texas DPS trooper picked up the chase at some point and make the arrest.
Biker ran out of fuel and a news crew was on site by following scanners and their own traffic helicopter to intercept point.
Live on TV, the trooper said the actor was cruising at 185 mph. Actor told the trooper he was keeping up pretty good and trooper said all the way.
Later rebroadcast of the arrest edited this conversation…can’t have it known that the Texas DPS Chargers can go 185 mph.
I may have done just that back in the day...
Rain felt like little rocks hitting my face. That was at 40 mph.
I stopped following the motorcycle industry in the late 70s. I can imagine how much power technical advances have made.
300 mph on a barely faired motorcycle? No thanks.
I did recognize the Tangerine Dream soundtrack.
