Most of the wavelengths JWST can detect are invisible IR, so they use “false color” in which they assign red, green, and blue to different channels, amost alwys invisible. False color is also how radio images and x-ray images are also typically presented, because you can’t see those wavelengths either.

Thanks for this, coloradan.  I just Googled the question: Are nebula rainbow colored? and got back a few links to further explain how it works.
