“Or maybe, he was just talking over your head, and you didn’t realize it.”

Yes, because I am just some rube who doesn’t understand how the system works.. if you want to think that go right ahead.. I’ll flag this thread, so when March 5th rolls around, the primary is effectively over, we’ll see who’s right... or better yet when March 19th comes around and Desantis as the sitting governor of a state, is utterly humiliated, and loses the primary there (assuming of course he hasn’t already been forced to drop out before then).. we’ll see who’s right.

Don’t try to lecture me about national polls. Desantis is underperforming Trump in the swing states as well. I was one of the first people to explain exactly how Trump was going to win 2016.

Desantis is a non starter, he isn’t outperforming Trump in the swing states, and even more importantly, he’s going to lose the Primary handily, even in the state he’s a sitting governor of.

If you think Desantis is a winning candidate, there really isn’t any hope for you. You are backing a guy who is going to LOSE the primary in the state he’s the governor of, and not by a little bit.

The “electability” argument, as I state is the last refuge of the establishment/uniparty/globalists, when the lowly “stupid” peons don’t follow their script.

You can cling to your delusions... Had to go through this crap with the Cruz, Rubio, et al folks back in 16.. nothing ever changes with the establishment/globalist/uniparty hacks... same old playbook for the last 20-30 years.

Desantis is a non starter, he can’t win a national election, he can’t even win a Primary election among Republican voters... And I don’t mean can’t win by a small margin, I mean can’t win, as will likely not even get double digits of the vote totals when its all said and done.

Hell he can’t even win his home state in a primary election, when he’s the sitting governor.

When it’s all said and done, Trump will handily win well over 60% of all the Republican primary votes cast, and Desantis won’t even be in double digits. Yet, you want to make the argument Desantis can win a national general campaign?

It’s a LAUGHABLE argument, that gets more laughable by the day.

I can’t win the primary, but dammit I can win the general....

Dumbest claim ever.

I heard this whole dumb argument before back in 16, and I was called far worse that stupid for pointing out exactly why and how Trump was going to win... The same old establishment rubes offered up the same old tired lines you are.

March will be here soon enough, and we’ll see...

I assume that right now 45% of the GOP will vote for Trump, no matter what. DeSantis is going have to convince the remaining 55% to vote for him. Trump has more charisma and he's better on the stump than DeSantis. But he's toxic. I just want to win. So I'm going with DeSantis, as simple as that.

Thanks for your spirited and intelligent explanations of why DeSantis is trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

He’s had four months to prove himself as a candidate for President. And his “support” has dropped like a rock. It’s all over for him. And why did he just make deep cuts in his staff? He’s holding on where all odds are against him.

In the end, you can believe one of two things about DeSantis:

Either 1. DeSantis honestly believes he can beat the greatest campaigner, proven Conservative President, and leader of MAGA, the greatest grass roots conservative movement America has ever seen. If you believe that, then you have to admit DeSantis lacks the intelligence to be President.

Or 2. DeSantis knows he can’t beat Trump, but he loves the DONOR money enough to try and take out Trump and effectively kill the MAGA movement and upend Trump’s commitment to destroy the Deep State. If you believe that, then you have to admit DeSantis is a utter fraud.

* * *

So which is it? Stupid or a Wolf in MAGA clothing?

This is what I don’t understand about the DeSantis supporters. Their logic (and DeSantis’) Logic does not make sense.

If he can not win the primary, he can not win the general election. And not just because of the mechanics of not being the nominee. It is because he doesn’t have the support and excitement to win.

His only chance of getting the nominee is if Trump drops out. But that isn’t really winning, is it? He can’t beat Trump. And if he gets the nomination by having it handed to him (Trump dropping out) no one is going to be excited about his candidacy.

I’m not saying that Trump isn’t going to face challenges winning the general election. But DeSantis is a complete non-starter.
