Not really - I grew up in that California, in Silicon Valley back when the players were Intel, AMD, Silicon Graphics, Sun Micro. I still remember how pleased my parents were when Proposition 13 passed, and the California Tax Revolt was the talk of the nation. The wealth brought in millions of newcomers from the East Coast, and they brought their left-wing politics with them.
