The New York City schools chancellor, David Banks, has previously accused parents following this course of action of ‘gaming the system’ by taking advantage of the law to hustle their children into a free private education.
I love it. The parents should say, “well your crappy system didn’t work.” Pay up.

Thinking the same. My dad always got my attention.

In other words he was a normal three year old who did not receive the appropriate punishments when he misbehaved and is now a terror.
I was recently scolded because I "reacted too harshly" to Youngest Daughter acting out. She still occasionally has trouble controlling her temper. Because she acted out she lost privileges. In that case the privilege to go to a party. When chided I responded that the adults run the house, not the child.
Youngest daughter asked why that man was so upset. I told her his mommy probably did not love him enough to correct him when he misbehaved.

My grandmother would have fixed that problem with a $.59 fly swatter.

I think I had pathological demand avoidance when I worked at Taco Bueno. Then, they fired me.

… pathological demand avoidance, which is defined by the Child Mind Institute as going to ‘extremes to ignore or resist anything they perceive as a demand …
I must confess that as a youth this excuse never occurred to me.

Another casualty of the modern mental health system, where kids are drugged and there are no consequences for rotten behavior.
To: ronniesgal
In a way I guess they do because we see the inside of a four star restaurant once a year since they arrived. Of course part of it is that kids are expensive. Oldest Son has gone through three sizes in shoes this year.
I just do not understand parents who let their kids run the show. Love them dearly. Would die for them. But they are not in charge.

When we acted out our parents sent us to our rooms. Sometimes we had to say for days after school depending on how bad the offense was. My brothers and I called it “solitary confinement”

A condition called pathological demand avoidance, which is defined by the Child Mind Institute as going to 'extremes to ignore or resist anything they perceive as a demand. Wow, they have finally came up the a diagnosis that describes me to a tee. My two X-wife's can confirm it.

We usually go for physical labor.
There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done and usually the stuff is uncomfortable, stinky and tedious winter or summer.

"After doing so they sued the district for reimbursement after being told the authority were not legally allowed to place him at a private school. We successfully curbed my child's ADHD behavior by following the Feilgold diet. The main culprit was apples (think apple cider vinegar also and the number of foods which may contain it, listing only "vinegar" as an ingredient). Also noticed an effect from liquids in plastic bottles as opposed to glass. Never was put on any medications and is an accomplished adult with multiple degrees.
Strange that 50 years later they are just recognizing this.

Oh yeah, my mother could wield a belt like nobodies business.
I had many a whippin’.
Although, I do think it caused me to be more stubborn.
