This is prompted by a comment by someone posting on another thread to the effect: "Trump has to prove he is not guilty of what he is accused of"

That is completely wrong, and a Leftist viewpoint (unless the Leftists themselves are on the receiving end). The burden of proof is on the prosecution, as Turley implies.

But lets take it further.

If this affront is allowed to stand, either by Leftists and the corrupt who have ZERO regard for our Republic, or by political entities who deem it convenient for purposes of their own ambitions (I suppose that still falls into the corrupt category), NO one is 'safe'.

As for those in the RNC who are content to sit back and let it happen, I agree with Julie Kelly's sentiment that Jack Smith can indict any Republican in DC, and just may do so if they don't 'toe the line'.

As for the Left? Look up Martin Niemoller. There's this wonderful thing called the Internet if your stupid a**es can be bothered.

If anyone thinks that all Smith has is Trump’s speech on J6 you are very naive. Smith tried war crimes in The Hague.

Trump’s speech? Really? Play a video of the entire speech and it exonerates Trump.

“As for those in the RNC who are content to sit back and let it happen...”

***********

The soulless RNC is content to sit back and allow most destructive things to happen.

The Republican ‘brand’ stands for nothing.

RE: Turley: Jack Smith Needs More Evidence Than Trump’s Speech To File J-6 Charges

No, he does not. In the Post Constitution United States, political crimes are adjudicated in advance and in the media.
Trump has to prove his innocence beyond any shadow of doubt, not only in court, but in the media. An impossible task since the verdict is already in.
At this point in time what the Uni-party & the Deep State are praying (to whom, I do not know) is for some court to rule that President Trump is ineligible to run for public office.

Think of the leftist jury pool of DC as a bunch of sharks.

Toss them a conservative and they’ll do all the work thereafter.

The burden of proof is on the prosecution, as Turley implies.

Jack Smith will do or say or charge anything that he wishes and there is nothing that anyone can do about it.

I believe this is about the electors.

Smith will probably allege criminal fraud. However, that is absurd, Pence’s job was on the line and Pence was fully aware of all relevant matters.

Trump’s lawyers can be expect ted to put Pence on the stand and Pence will be asked questions.

Did your ticket with Trump lose in Michigan?

I believe so, and that was certified by the legally designated officials of Michigan.

Was your ticket with Trump cheated in Michigan?

I’m pretty sure there were election irregularities that were in Joe Biden’s favor.

Were you aware that....

The jury pool of DC is so full of leftists that Trump’s lawyers should seek to have any DC case transferred to Alexandria, Virginia.

DEM Joseph R. Biden - Kamala D. Harris 317,323
...
REP Donald J. Trump - Michael R. Pence 18,586”

I haven’t reviewed this carefully, but it is quite detailed:

Do be aware that almost all of its information should be inadmissible IMO. I’m not a lawyer.

No, he doesn’t. This isn’t about law and order, this is about politics. This is about communists attacking Americans. We fight back or we lose this country.

My fear is no matter how bogus the case, a DC jury will vote to convict Trump for anything.

Turley sets the bar really low by saying “more than a speech will be required” and later no matter what the prosecutor says, will say... “well this clearly exceeds having nothing but a speech to convict, just look at all these leftist and rinos have provided to reinforce Smith’s accusations... “

case closed... guilty by jumping the 6” high lowbar for smith...

Turley is in on it.
certainly.
