Man, I love me some pistachios. Especially since they quit putting that goofy red dye on the shells. Not sure why they ever did that, but my fingers used to be red after eating a bunch of them.

My problem with Melatonin is that it knocks me out cold, and tends to make me drowsy the following day. I still use it as a sleep aid when I’m working day shifts, because going to bed before nightfall makes it hard to fall asleep.

I stick to smaller doses, 1 - 3 mg.

Perhaps I need to pursue the niacin thing - I now you’ve advocated and done this.

This will not happen if you consume it from a natural source. As I said, my experiments showed food sources to be 100x more bioavailable than synthesized melatonin. That said, do pursue the niacin thing. You can mitigate the flush with pistachios or tart cherry concentrate, or you can just embrace the flush. It's never as shocking or as bad as the first time. After a while of embracing the flush, you'll grow to miss it if you don't take your niacin.

Further, concerning the flush, it will be drawn out if you take the niacin in pill form. If you just dissolve the niacin dose in a glass of water and down it, the flush will come fast and leave faster. Another method is to make a niacin and water solution. I like a 10% solution - 10g niacin to 990g water. A 100g glass of the solution will give you 1g of niacin. My wife likes to sip on it and not get a flush shock.
