Speaking in South Carolina today, presidential candidate Ron DeSantis blamed President Trump for the events of January 6, 2021, in Washington DC saying, “I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn't do anything while things were going on. Should he have come out more forcefully? Of course.”
However, DeSantis affirmed he does not believe Trump's transgressions amounted to criminal conduct. “But to try to criminalize that, that's a different issue entirely,” the Florida governor noted.
Governor DeSantis then tacked to his preferred position that politicians should not be criminally targeted and promised if he was elected, he would do a more reach-across-the-decorum, saying “I think that we want to be in a situation where you don't have one side just constantly trying to put the other side in jail.”
DeSantis pledging to return civility to the Dept of Justice comes on the same day the DOJ is about to deploy yet another indictment against the political opposition of the current administration. I'm not sure the civility DeSantis requires would be afforded by the institutions DeSantis supports.

I think what is going on here is a slick mover and shaker behind the scenes in Desantis’ headquarters is telling the Gov. to play both sides. It's Hillary Clinton all over again doing her triangulation BS.
Problem is Desantis is not slick enough to get the job done. So Desantis wants voters to think that:
hes for Trump but also against him as well,
good luck with that one!!
“I think that we want to be in a situation where you don’t have one side just constantly trying to put the other side in jail.”
RINO-speak for if I’m elected, I won’t prosecute any Democrats for their crimes.
No thanks.
I think DeSantis has the “expert” advice of Paul Ryan, who I believe was forced to retire. Trump ended his career and he hates him.
I can’t wait for DeSantis’s “bunny suit moment.”
