For example, I've replaced the belt on my lawn mower from time to time but I still check out the video before doing it again just to make sure the steps are fresh in my mind.
It depends on the procedure.
Alternatively, the ER doctor could call in an Ortho doctor who will charge an additional consult and procedure fee, while you wait another 3 hours for Ortho doctor to get to the ER.
Wrapping a distal extremity isn't brain surgery. I'll take the ER doctor with a video review prior to splint application.
Especially if it is not a proceedure that they do daily.
“I would feel much better having a doctor studying a procedure before performing it on me ...”
I would agree if it were an uncommon procedure, but this was simply wrapping an ankle. I’m not a doctor and I would feel comfortable winging this.
I agree. Even the finest of minds could use a quick refresher on proper procedure. We are not fused with computers just yet. Better to admit not being all knowing, on all topics all of the time, vs being too proud to review.
I wouldn’t want to be that patient’s doctor, if given the choice. He’s fine with damaging his own HIPPA protections just to get a few ‘likes’ online. Seems kind of sneaky.
If he was that bothered, he should have spoken to the doctor directly, once the procedure was done.
I honestly DO NOT have a problem with this.
I knew a guy who sold orthopedic equipment. Titanium objects, screws, etc that go into human bodies. He was a twenty something year old dude going into the operating room SHOWING the SURGEON how to do the procedure.
