Pope Francis intervenes: Fear of division in the Vatican – Secret meeting to “defuse bomb”

Rome – Suddenly there is movement in the relationship between the German Church and the Vatican . Because for a long time there was a kind of ice age between the dignitaries of the Catholic Church in Germany and the Holy See of Pope Francis, which culminated in the frosty ad limina visit of the German bishops last November. The reason: the “synodal path”, which fueled concerns about a schism, a schism in the church, in Rome, since considerable differences had come to light at the time.

The Synodal Path in Germany highlights, among other things, the role of women in the church. He also deals with the question of how the relevance of faith and church can be brought back into the social debate and at the same time answers to questions within the church can be given.

Other issues include whether married Catholic priests should be allowed in the future, whether women should be allowed as deacons and whether homosexual couples can be blessed by the Catholic Church.
