SOUTH AMERICA AND DE-DOLLARISATION: A SLOW DECLINE
Bolivia has recently become the latest South American nation to adopt China’s yuan for trade.
While some may dismiss this as a minor due to the country’s size, these same people also probably ignore the increasing number of countries that are beginning to use their local currencies for trade.
Earlier this year, it came to light that Argentina and Brazil were considering the establishment of a shared currency. This proposition was part of a joint effort to decrease their dependency on the U.S. dollar.
