Sorry Spunky, I was hot and cranky and didn’t thoroughly read your post before jumping to conclusions, which is sometimes the most exercise i get. My vacuum and kitchen fan both broke which added to my crankiness.
This morning I went to my optometrist for new glasses. Their new policy, which they hadn’t informed me of, is to force a pathology diagnostic test in order to just get glasses prescription, and they want my insurance and myself to pay copay. I told the girl that I don’t need that because I regularly go to a retina doctor and have all those tests.
She went back and asked, and said it has to be done. Her reasons were because they have new equipment that doesn’t require dilation and because we need to know why I have vision problems. I told her I already know why I have vision problems and having to pay for their new equipment isn’t my problem.
So they refused to see me.
I’ve been too angry to call my insurance and doctor about it. I did read that Medicare Advantage plans pay more for that so that may be the reason yhey pushed it on me.

And, I’m sorry about the eye doc. That is beyond aggravating.
Mine no longer dilates, either, but I did NOT have to do any pathology work for them.
Just relax and don’t let these bastiges get you down.
Can your retina specialist maybe recommend an option?

Don’t you have Medicare and a supplement? When I go to my optomitrist they do ALL kinds of tests that are condidered medical and Medicare (not medicare advantage) and my supplement pay 100% for those tests. The only thing Medicare doesn’t cover is the refraction test which is $45 and they don’t cover glasses.
If it were me and they refused you I think I would be looking for another optomitrist.

That’s ridiculous, I’m glad you refused. That’s one reason I hate going to optometrist, so many of them are very very greedy. Like they’re not making enough out of all the glasses they sell.
I don’t go to an optometrist for anything other than glasses. They’re not real doctors. If I actually had an eye problem, they would probably miss it. The most they can do is tell me to go see a real doctor. Which I do anyway! Just like you.
Why did they expect you or anyone to get a pathology diagnostic test?
Did they think you have an infection that caused you to lose your glasses?
EVERYTHING has become so aggravating these days.
And how dare they refuse you service.
If you were Black they wouldn’t have dared, or you could have sued their sorry azzes.
