It is ubiquitous here and I have even found them in the southern part of the US. We don't waste time trying to keep them out of the house. It would be futile. It's the lizard, I think, referenced in Pro. 30:28, "The lizard you may grasp with the hands, Yet it is in kings’ palaces."

I take that to mean that although kings do have some power, the lizard, which is common to all and can be manipulated by anyone, even posters the loftiest people among us. The lofty are subject to the same challenges everyone has.
