My sister would fry bologna. It would puff up in the middle if it didn’t have slits cut in it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if SPAM and BOLOGNA were the first “legal” Bill Gates fake meats.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if SPAM and BOLOGNA were the first “legal” Bill Gates fake meats.

Bill Gates wasn’t even alive then. These were the meats used mostly during the depression. I remember liking SPAM but maybe because it was a treat for us. I sure don’t care for it now, but my youngest daughter does which really surprises me.

“Hormel introduced Spam on July 5, 1937. The Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America states that the product was intended to increase the sale of pork shoulder, a cut which did not sell well. Ken Daigneau, the brother of a company executive, won a $100 prize that year in a competition to name the new item.”

“The Origin of Bologna? It seems that mortadella, the precursor to modern bologna, has been around for centuries. It became a real delicacy in the town of Bologna as early as the 1400s. Anyone who passes through the town absolutely has to try a piece of this delectable sausage.”
