While you’re chucking stuff think about this: For decades I’ve used sandwich, quart, and gallon size Ziplocs for shipping small parts and tools from the shop. I frequently use 10/20/30 bags at a time. Quite some time ago I started noticing that every time I used more than a few bags at a time my eyes would start burning. At first I just thot I needed a nap but I finally associated the bagging with the burning. The bags were venting something irritating so I started airing them out before I brought them inside.

The current method: Whenever I open a new box of ziplocs I dump the whole thing into a larger box, shake it up, and leave it out in the sun for a day. At the house I don’t leave leftovers in a Ziploc without also wrapping them first.

The venting and sunning seems to have stopped the irritating and now I’m formulating a bitzch letter to the makers about the irritation. Haven’t yet decided whether to demand labeling or just put them on notice that I have an un-itchy eye on them.
