Copied from video description:
Allen, Texas — On May 6, 2023, an Allen Police Officer speaking to a mother and her two kids heard off more than 10 gunshots in the distance, at the Allen Premium Outlets mall. The officer calls in the shots fired over the radio and another round of gunfire is heard. The officer grabs his weapon and tells shoppers to get down. The officer runs across the outlet mall for approximately two-to-three minutes, and multiple rounds of gunfire are heard throughout this time. The video was edited by the department to blur out the faces of civilians and victims, and some language was removed. In it, gunshots ring out and the officer is heard saying, "Shots fired. Shots fired. We got people running." He grabs his gun, yells for people to "Get moving!" and heads toward the gunfire.
About four minutes into the footage, the officer raises his weapon and shoots at gunman, identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia. After he fires several more times, it's eerily quiet for the first time since the chaotic footage began. "Shots fired by police. I got him down!" The officer shoots two more times, and screams, "Drop the gun!" Little more than five minutes after the footage began, the officer had fatally shot Garcia. Another officer approaches Garcia's body and the officer who ended the mass shooting, says, "We got him bro... we got him." Garcia murdered 8 people and wounded another 7 people when he went on his deadly rampage. On June 26, The Texas Rangers and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office presented the evidence to the grand jury. After reviewing the evidence, they ruled the use of force was justified under Texas law.
Firing almost all triples, too.
My apologies-I didn’t mean to convey that at all that you had posted that. I had clicked the post button before I added an additional thought, so I was trying to follow up.
As it was, my original post to you, I meandered right off topic when you mentioned carrying in Texas, which brought to mind that scene in that movie...
I give him credit for getting the job done, he’s a hero to the many who emerged safely from the mall, no doubt. But as he’s walking and huffing and puffing, there were a lot of shots being fired and he’s telling the dispatcher he’s moving as fast as he can. Who was killed while he was walking as fast as he could? If his gear is weighing him down and resulted in his getting to the shooter in 4 minutes instead of 3 when the shooter was walking not more than 2 minutes away, then there’s a problem the police force must address.
He was not “running blindly”, he was walking after he quickly ran out of gas and people were directing him to the shooter. In an area such as an outdoor mall I am certain it can be difficult to pinpoint the direction the shots were coming from but you can also see blurred out images as he moved forward and I have to assume those were victims. So he knew he was getting close. He did manage to control his breathing enough when he fired his weapon.
He certainly wasn’t running blindly - my point is that slowing down as you get closer to the sound of the gunfire is a good idea, so you don’t get unpleasantly surprised. As opposed to running straight in at full speed as some would want.
Adrenaline, full body gear and the distance he had to run will take the breath out of anyone....
LOL!
Ain't nuthin that needs to be addressed, he did his job and he did it well.
Armchair commandos are as worthless as tits on a bull.....
hahaha...that clip was priceless!
