“So far, we can’t confirm or deny that Lukashenka or his family were on the government aircraft that left Minsk at midnight. Earlier, @Hajun_BY reported that the business jet Bombardier Challenger 850 left Minsk. Lukashenka’s sons sometimes used this jet before. We are watching”

Ukraine ping

MinorityRepublican: [The corruption of the Russian military spelled the end for Putin. It made him dependent on Prigozhin.]

That’s the thing. Putin’s not dependent on Prigozhin, and he’s not close to doomed. Prigozhin has a small force without aircraft. At best, his men are comparable to Ukrainian troops. And yet regular Russian forces mostly held hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian troops back for over a year. Unlike the Ukrainians, Wagner has no air force and little in the way of air defenses. It’s not even clear Wagner has much in the way of artillery. Its best hope is in getting defections from Putin and commandeering government equipment and ammo. That’s not an easy undertaking.

"Prigozhin's audio message at 01:22 BST:

"The Head of General Staff is not calming down: a mistake of any African dictator is to deal air strikes at civilian areas. Right now in the air are two planes numbered 523 and 546 that are trying now to deal these strikes.

Remember, lads. The motherland will not forgive you for strikes at your own territory. You should have the courage to strike the enemy territory when our infantry is moving.

Thus, these speculations saying that we are interfering with someone fighting on the front are speculations. We do not interfere with anyone. We interfere with criminals savings their asses, who destroyed around 100k Russian soldiers. Gerasimov and Shoygu."

“What about Lukashenko?”

The jet of the Belarus Dictator Lukashenko family took off from Belarus and is now in the sky over Turkey.

Upon entering Russian airspace, the aircraft turned off the transponders and turned them on only over Kalmykia, when exiting Russia

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/6/23/russian-authorities-launch-criminal-probe-into-wagner-group

According to this AlJazeera article, Prigozhin and troops were greeted with hugs and chears by Russian border guards as they crossed into Russia. He had been reported to be going to Rostov. In comment #17, Prig is quoted as saying Shoigu has fled Rostov where Shoigu had been directing the attack against Prig. Comment #8 says Prig flew to St. Petersburg around 7 pm, where it would make sense for him to see key supporters. Comment #25 suggests a 50km (30 mile) convoy heading toward Moscow from the Rostov direction.

If Prig has 25,000 Wagners, with military equipment and vehicles, plus any supporters he may have picked up around Rostov, it could easily be 30 miles long. Who knows how long it might be as it gets near Moscow. Prig might still be politicking in St. Petersburg or even Moscow, but planning to meet up with his commanders on the Moscow road. With his access to computer popular media he will have a quick read on how his rebellion is progressing. It is suggested Putin is not in Moscow. Perhaps he is “resting” in his massive retreat south of Rostov along the Black Sea coast? Maybe Shoigu has run there for safety and consultation?

here is a theory what if Putin is dead or on death bed and this is all happening because there is no head of state. All of this could be jockeying for leadership. has anyone seen Putin in the last three days. I know he is rumored to have poor health.

The road from Rostov to Moscow is about 600 miles. Voronezh is about half way between, about 300 miles from each. Does anyone know how fast a 30 mile convoy with military equipment might travel if unopposed?

A useful map to follow the ongoing action. Cheers

I believe Putin’s bunker in Sochi was recently shown publically in great detail. If this is the same place, it has hardened security features and can house a lot of bodyguards. It is also very posh and very big. As I said in an earlier comment, I would not be surprised if Putin went there, or if Shoigu fled to meet him there.

If people want to keep track of what is happening, they should start at the befinning of this post. An earlier comment said Lukashenko has already fled to Turkey. Plus a lot of other interesting tidbits.

A post I read Thursday said Prigozhin was number 5 on several popularity polls in Russia. He rated above Shoigu and Medvedev. Prig is very tuned into popular media and how the masses feel about him. Putin does not use the internet himself. None of the people listed above him were military leaders, and Putin was the one with visible power at number one.

Good summary.

Putin cannot be oblivious to the fact Shiogu has been lying about the likelihood of a Ukrainian attack in 2022, has lied consistently about the military successes, and without Wagner competence and Kadyrovite brutality they’d never have taken the Donbas.

Couple that with Prighozin’s plain talking and completely relaxed demeanor yesterday, I reckon Putin’s now going to have to throw the incompetent jobsworths under the bus, and Prighozin knows it.

He doesn’t come across as someone acting on butt hurt. His postings yesterday were authentic, convincing, but most of all chill. There he was, cup of tea in hand (with a drawstring tea bag in it!) methodically presenting the case against Shiogu. Not drunk and ranting.

Not the demeanor of someone fighting for their own career or life. More like someone who is confident that he’s untouchable.

I guess if this is really happening, the key moment will be when Putin orders his air force to strafe the approaching convoy, do they obey, and destroy it, or mutiny, and signal they are in agreement? Then obviously Putin would have to resign and/or flee for his life.

Maybe Lukashenko has rented a large enough stay for an extra room?

This is not necessarily good news, people who appear when restrainers are taken out of their path are known to be bad news on a rather large scale.

This Prizhogin character could soon be in control of Russia’s full military resources. We will have to hope if so his intentions are to restore normal international relations. Not that those are all so great but we need to get some adult dialogue going on soon before this planet goes ka-boom.

He’s a businessman first and foremost, respects the enemy, and is perhaps more effective than Lavrov at securing influence in Africa.

Shiogu is a no trick pony.

If Putin goes, I’d put a bet on Khordokovsky and Prighozin teaming up. They’re both businessmen, not driven by Soviet nostalgia.
