The point at which Latinos would outnumber white residents to make up the biggest share of the Texas population has been on the state’s demographic horizon for years.
It seemed that long-awaited milestone was reached in 2021 when a closely watched data release last year was the first to reflect the culmination of decades of transformative growth.
But confirmation did not come until this week, when the U.S. Census Bureau updated its official population estimates. In new figures released Thursday, the bureau confirmed Latinos have made up the largest share of the state’s population since at least July 2022. The new population figures show Hispanic Texans made up 40.2% of the state’s population last summer, barely edging out non-Hispanic white Texans, who made up 39.8%.

Yes, thank Biden and everyone back to Reagan with his Simpson-Mazolli bill. The invasion if winning, we are losing. How do we now close the border and deport everyone from Mexico and elsewhere back home?
Once Texas turns blue, I don't see how Republicans will ever take the White House (unless they run a RINO celebrity like Schwarzenegger).
ENFORCE THE LAW
round up all illegals, which includes their kids whether or not born in the US (because they’re not citizens), and ship them back to their home country.
then bill their home country for the expenses
“Long awaited milestone”
Why is it “long awaited”? Because now they’ve achieved nirvana by outnumbering the hated gringos?
Funny how Mexican triumphalism pervades all the reporting.
So now what? They proceed to turn Texas into Mexico?
Nobody wants to live in Mexico. Not even the Mexicans. That’s why they’re here.

Thank JFK and his 1965 Immigration Act passed after his death.
JFK ran on this replacement immigration platform and chain migration.
I’m so sick of reading comments from defeatists that have already decided and declared that we will lose. If you have seriously given up and accepted defeat, you are the very reason for our recent electoral losses. It’s pathetic! 🤨
Texas doesn’t have to turn blue! It’s not a law of nature! It’s not a given! Snap out of your negativity!!!😒
All the Hispanics i know are good family ,hard working ,God fearing Republicans. They can’t stand the way the country is going.
Precisely. Demographics is destiny no matter how much civnatcucks scream that it is not.
I am convinced we will never see another Republican president again....ever.
I do not apologize to any damn body for being a realist and failure to see what is happening is the REAL reason we have lost.
Being upset someone points out a current working democrat strategy by calling them defeatist doesnt help. Given the current situation and power structure, how is it genuinely defeated? We’re open to actual actionable tactics that will work. Share.
The greatest threat to our Constitutional Republic has always been the domestic white male Rat.
It’s just to bad they couldn’t come legally. And be thoroughly vetted before entering. Which was mostly what Trump’s Wall was all about.
And also the part about cartels killing people with fentanyl from China ..and other crimes.. they are not the kind of people we want coming to America.
Because in states like Texas & Florida, Hispanics voted for Replicans at between 40- 55%. Not exactly a lost cause. Do research on it & you’ll find out that the Democrat Demographic Destiny argument isn’t panning out like they thought it would. If we were talking about black folks who vote Democrat 90% of the time, it’d be a different story. None of this is a lost cause for us. I think both DeSantis & Perry put forward a plan & won over majorities of Hispanics on conservative platforms. President Trump won around 40% of the hispanic population. Times change. Life is cyclical. I think that there is a horrendous negative disposition that has taken hold of our side. Yes an election loss is disappointing, but it doesn’t mean that things will stay like that. People need convincing, and I promise you- you won’t convince anyone with your negativity 😉
“Biggest share?” I guess they didn’t learn the word “plurality” in j-school.
My wife’s side is 3rd generation Hispanic. Most of them are fiercely conservative and family-focused. Don’t assume that Hispanic=Blue.
Whites are like deer in the headlights. This all will not end well.
This is the Texas Tribune, y’all. When they do articles if the slant isn’t to the left, it doesn’t make the paper.
How so? I voted. In fact, I've never missed an election. I just realistically expect to lose.
If I think happy thoughts, will my vote be more effective?
