I’m OK with this if the safes are limited to families with small children. Otherwise, don’t be stupid.

A better alternative is to teach your kids “don’t touch”, like with fire and noisy snakes.

Out here in CaCaLand safes are mandatory if you have children or child visitors. Another “tax” on owning a means to protect your lives.

^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^

Gun-proofing your children is a better option than kid-proofing your guns.

(Has there ever been a parent in the history of Christmas whose kids didn't manage to find where their gifts were stashed?)

Also (before anybody goes there), if you didn't bother to read the entire ruling, the Heller Decision ruled (among other things) that laws mandating trigger locks or gun safes are UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Held:

... 3. The handgun ban and the trigger-lock requirement (as applied to self-defense) violate the Second Amendment...

...Similarly, the requirement that any lawful firearm in the home be disassembled or bound by a trigger lock makes it impossible for citizens to use arms for the core lawful purpose of self-defense and is hence unconstitutional....
