HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (AP) — A Detroit-area community has banned LGBTQ+ flags from publicly owned flagpoles after a tense hourslong meeting that raised questions about discrimination, religion and the city’s reputation for welcoming newcomers.
In protest, a woman speaking during the public comment portion of the Hamtramck City Council meeting kissed a woman standing next to her Tuesday night.
“You guys are welcome,” council member Nayeem Choudhury said. “(But) why do you have to have the flag shown on government property to be represented? You’re already represented. We already know who you are.”
Some members of the all-Muslim council said the pride flag clashes with the beliefs of some members of their faith. Businesses and residents aren’t prohibited from displaying a pride flag on their own property.
“We want to respect the religious rights of our citizens,” Choudhury said.
Hamtramck, population 27,000, is an enclave surrounded by Detroit. More than 40% of residents were born in other countries, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and a significant share are of Yemeni or Bangladeshi descent.

The lunacy in the left democratic party is diametrically opposite opposite of the Muslim faith.
“Some of them” said doesn’t mean the others were not thinking it.
Maybe the Christians who are merely thinking something’s wrong but not saying it out loud to the public should be following the example of these Muslims who are speaking out.
Actually, not only silent Christians but anyone who remains silent should follow this example.

They don’t belong on public property, any public property, just as an political emblem of any kind does not belong on public property.
You are free to advance your own causes yourselves, but the government is everyone’s government and cannot be an agent advancing your cause for you.

That’s fine, but Christians, particularly white male Christians are currently painted as hateful bigots, while Muslims (somehow) continue to enjoy protected minority status. You have a Christian say the fag flag is offensive to their religious views and they are immediately branded a bigot, if not a terrorist. Until Christian white men stand up en mass we can hardly effect the narrative.
Of course it is religious, dare I say a religion of Satan who, in his pride, lifted himself up then was cast down by God out of heaven. Pride did that. Pride is all about self.
2 Timothy 3-4 has something to say about folks who are lovers of self rather than lovers of God.
Yes you are correct that opposition to the voicing Christian values is attacked relentlessly but, as you suggest, that doesn’t mean Christians should cave and be silenced.
