Garth couldn’t make it as a rock act so he took on the country/cowboy persona and went that route. I know a former roommate of his from the early days who gave me the lowdown. Rest is history.

I worked with one of his buddies for a few years back in the early 90’s. I did not ever hear a crossword about GB the entire time the topic of GB came up.
GB’s sister, apparently was a lesbian. If I recall, she passed not so long ago, so I suspect GB has some sentimental capital wrapped up in this social issue.
