I would have to disagree to an extent, as one of the basic tenets of conservatism is the focus on the individual versus Leftists, who focus on the collective.

In the focus on the collective, it is ipso facto a diminishment of the individual, and by extension, individual rights.

I view Conservatism as focused on the rights of the individual, as expressed in the US Constitution, which by definition, limits what can be done to the individual by government.

In theory, at least.

In practice, our wonderful Constitution is simply being used as a piece of paper when it suits the Left, and as an iron-clad document to buttress persecutions, also when it suits the Left.

Real Conservatism does not, in my opinion, facilitate slavery, although I readily admit, conservatism as “practiced” by Deep State conservatives absolutely can, so in that sense, I agree with you.

True. Real conservatism doesn’t. But in practice conservatives don’t like change. “There’s always been slavery.” The original Republicans weren’t conservatives. They were radicals.
