But compared to High Fructose Corn Syrup or cane sugar how bad is it? How many people die from diabetes and heart disease compared to leaky gut?
In different studies, coffee has been shown to cause cancer and cure cancer. I consume coffee, and whatever cancer is caused by it, is automatically cured by the same coffee.
Mike Huckabee took it for a while to lose weight. He seems OK.
I can remember when cyclamates were banned as potential carcinogens.
It was years later that a published study revealed one would have to consume 800 colas per DAY to cause damage.
I found stevia/truvia. Natural, from a plant leaf. Extremely sweet.
“which you probably consume even if you don’t know you do”
Not me. I can’t stand the aftertaste, so I can detect that stuff even when they don’t advertise that its in the product. I’ll take one taste, say “that’s got splenda”, check the label, and every time, it will be in the ingredients. Same goes for aspartame. Can’t stand it.
Gee... isn’t Splenda all natural...???
“alteration of blood glucose and insulin”
Explains how my sister, a Diet Coke fanatic, got diabetes, while I, who stuck with regular Coke, did not.
What does not kill me makes me stronger, until it kills me.
I don’t worry much about these things, but fortunately I hate the taste of all artificial sweeteners.

Similarly with saccharine (Sweet’N Low, et al).
Cane sugar and butter in moderation. Avoid high fructose corn syrup. One cup of coffee per day.
Splen did.
I’ll take pure cane sugar for a sweetener. HFCS, sucralose and the other fake stuff, no thanks.
Agree except for two cups of coffee per day.
That quote “what does not kill me only makes me stronger “ was said by Conan the Barbarian. Try not to imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger saying it, it was in the comic books and probably the Robert E Howard novels. But it doesn’t mean everything, only those things that you survive and can learn from. Things that just don’t kill you are only not killing you but they don’t make you any stronger. Covid for instance
Personally, I’m waiting for cyclamates to return.
“What does not kill me makes me stronger” is an aphorism from Friedrich Nietzsche’s book “Twilight of the Idols”. Syphilis did not make him stronger. Of course, it eventually killed him.
