Women often go through a thinning of their hair after menopause, but it usually isn’t as drastic as it is for men who go actually bald.
On the other hand, some men actually look very handsome when they are balding. I think the Prince of Wales looks very distinguished. (His younger brother looks like a medieval tonsured monk, though...)
