--- "Article does not say how many cases there have been, nor how many fatalities."

An excellent catch. It is minor and is "estimated" to kill off about one one-thousandeth of one percent, while the "normal" deaths in a given population are a little over one percent per year. It's been known about for over a century. Here is an article on the whole family.

"Pathogenicity and virulence of Burkholderia pseudomallei"

It is likely that what we have going on is called "be afraid, be very afraid." And subscribe, read the ads, click, click and click some more.

Here's some non-CDC advice. Don't be digging in the dirt with a seeping OPEN wound. Gosh, we need an expensive government agency and an expensive "epidemic intelligence officer" to tell people with open wounds not to get the wounds dirty? Sheesh.

Why hasn’t some gubmint agency done a “gain of function” on this and make it a lot more deadly and easily spread?
