“I thought you were in the desert?”
I am. Here is a good video taken by a couple called “Traveling while Black”. who came from the West Side of the state to find out what it was like over here on the East side.
What this video doesn’t show is in some of the foothills houses are being built further and further up the hills. Like million dollar houses. Also about 80 miles away are wheat fields. So if the sage brush and wheat fields catch on fire it will spread fast.
You will see the couple hiking one of the hills that a group of people started an organization and bought the land to preserve it so people can enjoy the view. They are now in the process of connecting this hill to others with paths.
Unfortunately the Tri-Cities has a dark spot in their history where Blacks were not allowed to be in Kennewick after dark and absolutely could not live there.
