I was born in Idaho and raised in WA and people think I am from the South because of the way I pronounce my words.

Sheriff is (Shareif). Onion is (unyoung) and Creek is (Crick).

My kids tease me a lot because of it.

Spent many summers in Idaho before move.

Friends in NM said I had an accent, I pronounced those same words the way you did.

Said harse for horse.

I worked hard at correcting my speech to fit in.
