Stockton Rush, CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, the company responsible for the submarine that went missing in the North Atlantic on Sunday while exploring the Titanic wreckage, bragged about not hiring experienced submarine operators who were “50-year-old white guys” with military backgrounds.
“I wanted our team to be younger, to be inspirational,” Rush said during a newly resurfaced interview with Teledyne Marine, adding that submarine expertise was particularly necessary for the job. “We can train someone to pilot the sub,” he said. “We use a [video-game] controller.”

Hard to believe, isn’t it, Rusty? When I first heard this, it sounded so ridiculous and so uber-woke that I didn’t believe it. Well, their team turned out to be inspirational for sure. They have inspired many people to avoid these underwater adventures for years to come, I have no doubt.

I just looked at the map, and Madison is at about the same latitude as I am, so you’ll likely get our weather. It’s been wet lately, but hovering around 75 to 80 degrees. That’ll feel like air-conditioning compared to what you Texans live with. I don’t know how you do it! My niece lives in Vegas and she has the same heat. I just hope those electrical grids never go down!

it was a great speech. and you’re right, his faith permeates his thinking, as it should. not like someone that is trying to pretend they have faith by saying a few statements about it and then dropping it for the rest of the speech
