If they won’t defend themselves, how will they defend our country. I would have expected them to kick some serious teen buttocks. Or else go down fighting and causing harm to as many attackers as possible.

Marines fighting minors would be twisted into the marines assaulted the ‘teens.’ And the marines end up with charges, etc.
Maybe they didn’t want repercussions to befall the Corps as a result of their action.

In the current political climate, if they had made any attempt to defend themselves, they’d have spent a serious portion of the remainder of their lives either in federal military prison or state prison.
And they know it.
Probably these Marines were fresh out of boot and fully believing all the smoke blown up their @$$es about how awesome they were to be Marines. They are going to hear it endlessly until they leave Pendleton.
That said, no military training in the world can make you immune from a suckerpunch and overwhelming numbers. The correct move is to recognize a bad situation and avoid getting into it in the first place.
Uh.. said they confronted a group of 30 to 40 teens and got swarmed and stomped. Only Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris are able to single handedly take down that many attackers at once.
So how many butts did you and your two homies kick the last time you were attacked by 30 feral thugs?
