It’s interesting that Disney is apparently NOT doing this to meet customer needs and expectations, but to cater to their own insane woke desires:
“This change is more gender inclusive and will allow Cast Members who don’t identify as female to participate in magical Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers.“
Customers don’t like it? Tough nooggies! We have 0.1% of our “cast members” to satisfy with our woke fetish.
I’m trying to make some sense of what is driving these decisions by them and what their calculations are. Doesn’t seem to make any classical business sense yet are the wokesters THAT embedded and powerful within that organization to cow the rest as they make these decisions?
1) They have woke-ism as their identity, their mission (aside from also making profit). 2) ESG scoring for pension plans run by Dims might make them fear not being woke enough, but embrace being seen as major woke.
3) They might be doing generational branding. As the boomer generation dies out or at least gets too old to go to Disney (with or without their grandkids), Disney might be trying to secure a positive lasting impression among millennial/Gen Z adults who are more included to automatically embrace wokeism wherever they see it -- whether or not they have kids. It may even be that Disney fears not being woke enough for the young adults to think they're interesting.
