Is there a nation out there with the ‘Tito ‘ like ability of the former Yugoslavia that could conquer the Taliban AND rule Afghanistan with an iron fist afterwards? Does Afghanistan have enough of anything exploitable to make it worthwhile to whoever has the wherewithal to do it?
It's a fair question to ask, if we would have been better off in the long run just leaving the Soviets alone in Afghanistan. It might not have been great, but it has to be better than what they got now.
