When I was a child I would get in trouble for seeing things that other people don’t see. Like how “blackbirds” are not black (except in photographs), how some types of steel are wildly colored, and etc. After some time I stopped mentioning it.
Then I got older and got tested and found out that I can see a range of polarized light that most people don’t see.
The lesson here is that just because you don’t see it or can’t imagine it doesn’t mean it isn’t real.
My own theory about some “insane” people is that they just might be hearing voices or seeing things and it is that exact experience that is making them insane.
