I hope the cancer diagnosis turned out OK even if late. Cancer is hard and scary!
I think that some people with the genetic type of high LDL might be that was for a reason. That type can’t always be controlled with meds. Statins make me terribly sick. The worst part is the leg pain and weakness.
The book explains that not all people with high LDL will have heart disease and/or blockages and that there are a lot of people with heart disease that have low LDL. There are two types of LDL. If it’s large particle, it’s not as bad because the “fluffy” particles actually help clean the arteries like good HDL does. The small particles are bad. They are the ones that stick in the arteries. There are tests to find out what size you have but doctors don’t order the tests.
The book also explains how the body needs a certain amount of saturated fat, but stay away from the trans fats.
It’s a very informative book!
I must have read an excerpt of that book or something, because I was certain that certain types of cholesterol were ok and some were not. I get blood drawn every three weeks, sometimes every two weeks, and the last one I had showed nothing of great importance out of range ( cholesterol, wbc, potassium, etc)
Appreciate the information and the post!
