I was talking with a coworker who had suffered a large piece of broken glass going between the two bones in his forearm. He’s a programmer and had to hunt and peck one-handed for a while.
We agreed he had it worse, but we also agreed the nature of his injury made it easier for him to be careful about his typing. My finger is so close to normal it’s very frustrating when I misspell something.
We used to say, back in the day when we only had to worry about heading home when the streetlights came on, “I felt bad because I lost my hat until I saw a guy who lost his head.”
There is always someone worse off than we are. I look around me every day and see people who are far younger than I am with far more problems. I’m grateful for what I have. And don’t have!
