There’s someone in our complex who looks like they have a solar generator hooked up to their apartment. I don’t know anything about how well they work. I’m sure they would do nothing during a storm, but if the power took a while to return one might be helpful. The government might even help with paying for it.
Of course, right now we’re dealing with smoke from the fires in Canada. That’s probably reducing the output.
Anyway, it could be something to check out.

Fail on getting Vlad a bank account, but we made an appointment for 2:30 today. Win on getting the used book store to accept some books, hopefully for cash. They wouldn’t buy them from Vlad because he’s not 18.
Zot, our society makes life hard for young people. How many 17-year-old nebbishes are going around stealing old history books and trying to sell them for not much cash? Honestly! Look, if a kid has Invisalign, you can assume he’s on good terms with his parents and they said he could sell the books!

Maybe he should have told them he needed to sell the books to afford a sex change and if the guy didn’t buy them he’d have blood on his hands.

Zz, if ‘Face could have a choice, it would be the Interwebs for sure, because, I have no vehicle. At least with the ‘net, I can order groceries and whatever else I need. Including ice, if I’m clever enough!

I spoke to my Real Brother earlier, and for some reason, we talked about dead relatives. He said he had cried when my dad died, not knowing of course for another 60 years, that he was not just MY dad, but my Real Brother’s dad, too! We decided neither of us had spent any time with the man without learning something. Yay, Dad!
The heat index is 111° now. I’m really glad the power is back!
ArGee, I hope you win the Battle of Pigeon Balcony! No one should have to fight pigeons. In Vegas, they have city and/or county crews that go around poisoning the flocks and then removing the bird corpses. What a job.
Now I’m off to try the Wordle!
We did have power outages in Hurricane, but they were short, as the city got onto them in a hurry. Lots of hotels in town catering to tourists from all over the world who want to see the beauty of Zion National Park, 15 miles from our door! It wouldn’t do to have disgruntled tourists!
I’ll check out the solar generator, though. Just because I’m curious!

Hiya! Two trips to the bank have failed to result in a bank account for Vlad, but we got other stuff done. Already time to get started on supper. We have choir at 6.
I guess I’m grateful for being a member of USAA. They had a special program to help kids get started with a bank account. All my kids had one that they could take over when ready. When USAA finally decided they couldn’t be members as my dependents any more, those accounts allowed them to open their own.
We may have Interwebs by morning. A neighbor just stopped by to tell me the cable company was working on it. I don’t have cable, but I couldn’t tell her because the Lawn Guys were 8’ from us, waiting to mow the lawn or whatever it was they were loudly doing on their machines.
All I want to do now is go to bed and check on it in the morning. All I can see is a blinking light on the router and it should be two solid ones.
Sorry about Vlad. He should be able to get an account with you as co-signer, even though his birthday is X days away. Silly bank.

Yes, he’ll have an account where DP and I are co-owners, linked to our joint checking account, but why couldn’t that be set up online? Gah.
