Bud Light sales bloodbath: Sales of troubled brand fell 21.4% in April after Dylan Mulvaney fiasco and total sales for Anheuser-Busch fell 12% despite CEO blaming 'misinformation'

Bud Light sales have plummeted even further after the brand CEO finally broke his silence on their disastrous campaign with Dylan Mulvaney.

Beer Business Daily commented that 'it's not pretty' for America's flagship brand and their parent company Anheuser-Busch after revealing the numbers for beer across April.

Anheuser-Busch volumes were down more than 12 percent last month, with Bud Light falling a staggering 21.4 percent.

Competitors of the Belgian-owned beer giant both saw their volume rise – with Molson Coors jumping 7.6 percent and Constellation 3.8 percent.

Yuengling took the tumbling sales of Bud Light in their stride, rising up 14.7 percent, while Miller Light had a spike of 12.8 percent.

Coors Light rose 10.9 percent, and Coors Banquet 20.5 percent – while Budweiser was also hit with the knock-on effect of the controversy by dipping 11.5 percent.

It comes after Global CEO of Anheuser-Busch Michel Doukeris blamed 'misinformation and disinformation' that was spread online for making people believe cans with Mulvaney's face were being rolled out for sale across the US.

He addressed the mass backlash over working with trans influencer Mulvaney, 26, for the first time in an earnings call with investors last week.

He added that the company is 'providing direct financial support' to the frontline workers impacted by the boycott.

Doukeris told the Financial Times over the weekend: 'People often talk about this topic in social media like noise.

'You have one fact and every person puts an opinion behind the fact. And then the opinions start to be replicated fast on each and every comment.

maybe I’m a contrarian, but I see these numbers as meaningful but nowhere near catastrophic. And their stock (more easily manipulated) has hardly moved.

The stock is being propped up by woke institutional investors, and the sales numbers are counting what has been shipped to retailers, much of it before all this started. It will be harder to hide the slide when next quarter's numbers are released. There are going to be some massive sales to get rid of this stock, because most of the identifiable AB beers are being affected. I think they'll have a hard time even giving Bud Light away though. I'm enjoying all of this.

“it really isn’t the company’s mission to combat the perverts.”

It is now.

The sales they are talking about are the sales of the distributors to the retailers. The supermarkets and liquor stores have their standing orders so they will fill the inventory to a certain level. At the start of the crisis there was some inventory depletion to be replaced automatically so initially the sales don’t look as bad right away.

Exactly.

By that point, this whole fiasco will be a fairly distant memory for all but us hardcore politicos. It’s going to take a little time to bring the sales back up to normal, but by the end of the year, it will be business as usual for AB Inbev. I wouldn’t be surprised if the marketing exec that is currently on leave is back and prepping the next campaign to double down on the nonsense.

You sure are spending a lot of time defending AB, and trying to make this sound like it's no big deal. Do you have a financial incentive for this?

The "misinformation" is that Dylan Mulvaney is a woman. He's a man, born male, will someday die male, and if his skeleton is dug up centuries from now, they're correctly identify him as male.

As for the CEO of InBev, he needs to be asked repeatedly how many transvestites Budweiser has on their corporate board, and why he hasn't given up his CEO position to a tranny.

Nope. I'm just fed up with the breathless reporting that somehow this boycott is bringing down AB Inbev. All that does is get us all riled up, over what is & will be, nothing. Yep. Sales dropped. They will return in the not so distance future. Especially guilty of this are the more "conservative" outlets, such as the baitway pundit.

We rail against the midstream media for #fakenews that only serves to incite and divide, but we accept the opposite without any real research or actual logical thought. We see it all over this forum every single day. The BOOMS! and the BOMBSHELLS! and the TICK TOCKS from the worst of them all, Hannity.

I refuse to watch leftist media, including Faux News. Talk to me when AB Inbev stock falls below $40. Then it will actually mean something. Until then, it's all hot air. Sure, they lost sales. Lots of companies do after they do something completely out of touch with their customer base. Coca Cola did it.

It's like the whole "Republicans are against big government" argument. Well, no, they aren't. In fact, Republicans (politicians and voters alike) absolutely LOVE big government, just as long as it is THEIR big government.

It's time we stop the mouth breathing responses over nothing and begin doing a little research and perhaps even using a little common sense to find the truth for ourselves. NO media outlet, conservative, liberal or otherwise is going to tell the whole truth, unbiased. Not a single outlet out there will.

The lack of common sense, apparent inability to do a little research for ourselves and even think for ourselves makes us look just as bad as the left. God gave us a brain and the ability to think critically. It's time we use it.

InBev made some big mistakes. First was hiring Alyssa as VP Marketing. Second was to approve Alyssa's plan to replace 'fratty' beer with rainbow beer by hiring a guy freak to appear on BudLight cans. Third was lying to the beer drinker that it was a low level employee who made that decision. Fourth claim that the VP was terminated when she was simply put on leave of absence. I guess they are just slow to learn at InBev.....

I would bet that they would recover all losses and gain market share if they put MAGA with a picture of Trump on the BudLight cans!

BTW, I'm not defending AB Inbev at all. I think they made a huge mistake. I do find it absolutely hilarious and intriguing when a business completely disregards their customer base to pander to about 1% of the population. That's what you get when you put a liberal indoctrinated woman in charge.

I haven't consumed Bud Light or any AB Inbev product for many years, and for one reason only: It's horrible beer. Rice doesn't belong in beer. I learned almost ten years ago to brew my own, and I haven't looked back.

They should start by not promoting the fact that they use rice in their beer. If I want rice beer, I’ll drink Sake. Rice doesn’t belong in beer. It’s crappy, horrible beer. That alone should have made it fall a long, long time ago. Their stance on gender ideology doesn’t matter until they figure out how to mass produce an actual good beer.

My bet is that this is fake news, and Bud Light sales are down more like 80%.

All the guys I work with still drink it.

Misspelled guys, you meant gays.

Drinking any light beer is like fags taking a golden shower.

It’s a good start. Keep it going. Plenty of alternative beers, one less won’t mean a thing.

Anheuser-Busch did not intend to create controversy or make a political statement.

This again. It was a blatant political statement intended to pander to a new demographic and Heimscheid said as much. It failed because her market isn't as politically correct as she wants it to become. Sticking the blame on an outside marketing consultant or worse, on the customers, is stupid.

The worst that is actually likely to happen given the inertia in a market this size is the loss of BL's status as the number one selling beer in the country. Believe me, that's not nothing. As for AB going under, I think it will take a good deal more than this but if it serves as a cautionary tale to other arrogant corporations it will have been worth the effort.

I was at an MLB game last week. Good crowd, probably 35,000 or so. Concession stands had 4-5 varieties of beer, but Bud Light was the featured brand. It took up the most space in the coolers and was the first brand you came to at the stands.

I saw one Bud Light drinker the entire game, and I was checking.
