Wow. We don’t know the day or the hour. God be with him and his family.
A similar thing happened a couple of years ago to the son of a friend of mine. He was diagnosed with leukemia on one day and died the next.
This was a little different in that the son was somewhat introverted and knew for some time that something was wrong . . . he just didn’t know what. He finally agreed to go to the doctor. Turns out it was too late. He died the next day.
Bone pain and extreme fatigue is a telltale sign of aggressive Leukemia (also Myeloma) but requires a biopsy for confirmation. Given his age it was likely ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia), a very aggressive type (and very curable too) which if not treated in time will start proliferating in the bone marrow uncontrollably. Pressure building up inside the bones causes bone pain. Also healthy RBC’s get crowded out causing a drop in Oxygen levels, thus the fatigue. Doc should have ordered a blood test right away. But these no good family docs and GP’s only want to prescribe antibiotics for everything.
Sounds like AML(acute myelogenous leukemia). If discovered late cause symptoms are mild, a serious infection can develop and lead to rapid death. Patient sounds like he is in that class. First doc probably thought patient didn’t fit the profile and didn’t recommend some simple screening test like a complete blood count. Poor kid. He may have been very ill before discovery but his good physical stamina allowed him to perform well, while his innards were being ravaged.
Hard to believe the leukemia wasn’t detected long before the sudden death. Possibly died with?

This is exactly what happened to me. My back hurt so bad that I saw the dr. That dr saved my life because he ordered an MRI which showed the effects of the leukemia inside of my bone marrow. Most drs would not order an MRI for mid- low back pain right away. They’d say just what this dr said. Come back if it doesn’t get better. It was AML. I had a week left.
