‘an extremely difficult scenario’
What absolute BS. The solution is simple and not difficult:
1. Fire the top execs
2. Make a public apology saying how wrong they were
3. State that AB is not woke and does not subscribe to the woke BS.
4. Continue with the apologies and beg people to come back.
You lose the liberal, homo, and tranny people from your customer base, but so what? They weren’t your serious customers anyway. You lose maybe 5% of your customers, but by showing your True NORMAL American bonafides, you win back those who departed and maybe win some new customers. Then you can resume using good old fashioned humor and American pride and patriotism to advertise the brand.
Sounds logical but I don’t believe it will work. For better or worse, there will now be a “forever” stigma attached to Bud Light.
Actually sad in a way...but a valuable lesson.
>> 3. State that AB is not woke and does not subscribe to the woke BS
BUT THEY ARE AND THEY DO!!!
That’ll complicate matters.
Alissa Heineyshine didn’t hire *herself*, dontchaknow.
Yeah...you are describing uncommon sense. AB has it coming though! Anyone who disgraces the simple concept of B-E-E-R, which is very simple, deserves what their getting. The good people of Cesky Budejovicky’s revenge.
If the NFL kneeling saga taught us anything, they fear the woke media industrial complex more than the consumer. When they overstep the line, they manage the PR hit and wait it out until consumer anger fades. It’s harder with beer than the NFL though bc it’s more easily replaced by another beer. The NFL’s biggest competition is your desire to do something else. They did some permanent damage with the racist demonstrations but hardcore football fans came back.
I don’t think it’s possible for AB to recover. For many, this was an absolute betrayal, a deep insult. Consider Gilette; I found that Amazon sells Dorko razors. They are equivalent (or better) to any Gillete razors I have owned; at a fraction of the price.
I have been using them for years, actually before Gilette did their toxic masculinity crap - but I have no intention of going back to Gilette, ever.
Pretty sure the AB slammed the door, and no matter how much they beg and grovel, their ex-customers will never forgive them for what they did. And a company that size, will miss sales figures, and will quickly go into bankruptcy.
Play stupid games; win stupid prizes.
Oh, I think this will portend longlasting damage. An apology would accomplish nothing. What comes to mind when I say the words “New Coke”? No straight male will be able to tip a can of Bud Light from now til doomsday and they will even shun it offered for free in a big iced tub at a BBQ party. No straight male will be able to drink Bud Light without some wiseass walking up and cracking “so, how’s the transitioning going?” The brand has been irradiated with a gamma ray flux to the point where even the Nevada repository for radioactive waste will not take it.
If you recall, in the case of “New Coke”, not only was the product rollout a total disaster, but the name of the product itself ultimately became a “negative brand paradigm” (not the correct word...I mean the “Xerox”, the “Kleenex” of their respective industries, only in the negative) Back then, in the pre-internet era of New Coke, it took several months for the public to become aware of the general reaction and for the product to become a laughingstock. This one happened in relative milliseconds, fueled by social media. Indeed it’s remarkable how quickly the marketing crater developed. This was Castle Bravo blowing a hole in Elugelab Island.
