Clearly another escalation in this bloody war.
My 2c is it’s a little unclear of the motive of the Uke soldier. He might have intended murder or he might have been overly nervous and thought the Russ was going for a weapon (he may have been digging out his medical kit). This sort of thing will certainly cause the Ukes to retaliate and thence back to the Russ.
Video of the killing is is so short and edited it’s hard to tell either way.
Russia Vs Russia Jr. Duke it out. Who cares. Tell me who won when it’s over
“”Drone video shows a Ukrainian soldier shoot a wounded Russian instead of taking him POW. The leader of Wagner has announced in retaliation his forces will no longer take POWs in Bakhmut.””
That is absolute bull.
Here is the 86 seconds of that fight and there is no prisoner surrendering, they are engaged in a fight in the trenches.

The other explanation I've heard for Prigozhin's "no prisoners" order is that the Ukrainians are mining buildings with remote detonators as they slowly retreat in Bakhmut. When their guys are all out, and the Russians inside, they blow the building.
He blew the Russian to pieces with a hand grenade after he was already dead. But yes, more bloodshed and killing for sure.

“No prisoners order”
Exhibit A at the war crimes trial.
There is no way back for Prigozhin.
Taking of prisoners by the invaded party is counterproductive. They have to be guarded, housed and fed, and receive medical care removing much-needed resources and manpower from the defensive forces.
