I think I first began noticing it on "Hill Street Blues" in the early 80's. The only person on the whole show with a "normal" nuclear family was the black police chief... Everyone of his white subordinates, especially the men, were closet psychos who couldn't maintain a personal relationship.
Add to that "The Cosby Show" where the only person ever "picked on", ridiculed and told to go home, was the little white fat boy.
That's about the time I stopped watching network TV.
