they are usually insured by ncua

similar to fdic but for credit unions

They tend to have a credit union version of the FDIC. They are buy additional “insured in full” insurance.

Credit unions tend to be closer to the old savings and loan model from the “olden days.” Some are better than others.

I just looked over my credit union's website.

I very quickly found the word "equity". It was paired with the word "home". Just under the word "mortgages" ...

Didn't see it in any other context.

The employment page has language about hiring the most capable people.

FWIW. YMMV.
