You have a good point, but unfortunately this means that Trump was outwitted by the very "swamp" he claimed to be able to outsmart.
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat." - Sun Tzu
Let's give it some perspective.
First, his record of political achievements suggests he did in fact "outsmart" the "swamp".
Secondly, That record may have been longer but for the fact Trump did not accurately predict just how many R's + RINO's would sit on their hands or even stab him in the back.
Thirdly, he almost certainly did not perceive the extent to which global interests would corrupt our state and federal election systems (and perhaps our Judiciary).
Finally, with regard to Trump's future perhaps it would be helpful for voters to understand that even the top baseball home run hitter of all times, Barry Bonds, struck out at the plate twice as often as he hit a home run (752/1539).
In fact, Bonds had a miserable rookie game in which he struck several times and did not hit a home run, think the coach should have benched him?
