Original video: "Tesla S will not charge in the cold. Stranded on Christmas Eve!" https://www.tiktok.com/@domnatishow/video/7180839253562199338
"UPDATE: I received several calls today from @Tesla Motors . They have been very accommodating so far, and are towing my car 2 hours away to Richmond to the service center at their own expense. Also, they delivered a loaner in the meantime." https://www.tiktok.com/@domnatishow/video/7181594117112122666
"UPDATE: Shocking interaction with Tesla service! They sent an estimate of nearly $2,000 and said my battery heater is broken. The notification on my screen said the battery is heating which was not true and their response regarding this false notification was very disappointing." https://www.tiktok.com/@domnatishow/video/7182837104857140522
Domenick Nati from Virginia, for instance, tried to charge his Tesla Model S ahead of Christmas but encountered some problems.
“I tried to charge it at my house, it won’t let me. So there’s no way to charge this battery or let it warm up in the cold,” Nati said in a TikTok video.
He then took the car to a Tesla Supercharger station and plugged it in but it failed to charge again.
The vehicle showed a message that the battery was heating and the car had a range of 19 miles at 1:11 pm.
“3:03, almost two hours later — battery is heating, 19 miles,” Nati read from the vehicle display with frustration later that day.
The temperature was reportedly around 19°F, or -7°C, at the time.
Nati’s video — titled “Tesla S will not charge in the cold. Stranded on Christmas Eve!” — has now amassed roughly 113,000 likes on TikTok.

On the road. Stationary.

Meanwhile the democrats in charge are forcing gas cars out of existence so more will buy electric cars that can’t be charged because they don’t work in the cold and because there isn’t an adequate infrastructure to charge the danm things.
Waiting on a tow truck!
No refueling problem with an ICE car, and no overheating of the gas tank either, and fixing the fuel tank (if needed) would not cost $2,000, and the maker manufacturer would not have to be directly involved, since there are ICE car repair stations virtually everywhere.
But, I’d still get a Tesla...

if it was given to me for free. (And then I’d sell it at a 10% discount).
And EV owners aren’t “enthusiasts”
Me TOO!
I beg to differ. Most EV owners I meet are very religious about it. Granted, I don't live up north where a lot of EV owners are grumbling about the cold.
My wife and I own both an EV car, and an ICE pickup. We're not dead set on either one. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Since we need 2 cars anyway, we have one of each to have the best of both worlds. I wish the Dims would let the free market decide on it like my wife and I did, instead of using restrictions and tax incentives to steer us all into one. I wish they did the same with energy sources and not restrict drilling and mining fossil fuels or ICE cars nor minerals for EV batteries. A truly free market would get us cheaper and better vehicles to choose from, and cheaper ways to power them.
“At some point the EV industry will have to find a new way to power their cars.............like maybe an IC Engine”
they have that now: they call them “hybrids” and all of their propulsion power is generated by an ICE :-)
i was just commenting about this afternoon while running some errands ... i noticed a couple of tesla’s coming out of hibernation as the temperatures here (colorado) briefly warmed up a bit ...
when the weather is good, those things are zipping around all over the place (Boulder County), but when it gets cold, you never see any at all ... mrs. catnipman pointed out that EV car owners have to ALSO own a REAL car for all of those many times when an EV can’t hack anything but moderate weather ... and when the weather isn’t safe enough for virtue-signalling here, the roads are jammed with monster SUVs and monster pickup trucks ...
The tow trucks have already retrieved the other 5%.
“Does it, though?”
Having been a content creator there’s something you don’t dare do, piss off your target audience. If you have to say something negative about the audience’s fetish or strongly held belief, you’ll have to preface it with something first affirming that fetish or belief. So, diversity is good, but...global warming is real, but...Of course trans people are great, but...
It has become religion amongst some people that EV’s are the wave of the future...but...Ford Lightnings are only produced on special order. Why, then, are there more than one thousand sitting on dealer lots? Because the buyers cancelled their purchase. In my opinion, the fast move by manufacturers to EV’s will be a humbling experience for some and disaster for others. In ten years, Tesla will probably be like Edsel’s. Oh, and it will be the rare Tesla that’s still on the road. (To see if I pissed on someone’s cherished beliefs, follow the comments on this thread.)
No one came to his aid with a 5 gallon can of electric? Didn’t have a gallon or so of emergency electric in the trunk? Just can sympathize with him at all.
Better beef up the fire boat fleet.
They get rid of them through epa environmental regulations they increase over time. Usually when a small station has to replace its underground tanks.
Go Trump!
But their battery died.
But...I just saw a commercial the other day showing an EV at the artic and one of the woke actresses exclaimed how great it starts in the cold! This has to be some kind of an anomalie /s
I have several vehicles in varying states of restoration. For the ones inside my garage I have those trickle chargers that keep the battery charged but not over-charged. For the outside ones (that have batteries in them) I picked up solar chargers from Harbor Freight. They’re not great in the winter months but will keep the battery from going completely dead.
“On the road” where they run out of juice or caught on fire.
