Is McVeigh still alive, living on a mountain with long hair? I always remember Janet Reno filing out his appeal paperwork, apparently to minimize his time to “execution”. Still took eight years. Super unusual for the AG to do the appeals? And I always remember McVeigh not having much to say?

Time from conviction to execution for T McV? Four years. (1997-2001)

Time from blown up MFB to conviction? Two years.

Why was he so quiet? One, he had always been a quiet sort.

He believed in the ideals of the US Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and his military oath to fight against enemies foreign and domestic. I think he was angry with himself that he didn’t complete his final mission more successfully. I believe he felt the government would enact retribution on his family and possibly friends if he spoke out against those who set him on his last mission.
