24 yr old flight instructor. Think I see the problem.
67 year old Cub flyer. I think I see another problem.
Yep, I had one of those.
Very knowledgeable and with plenty of energy and zeal for flying.
But, the wisdom is lacking - that takes years. They say a pilot’s license is not a license to fly, but a license to continue learning.
I recall as a student with this instructor getting caught by bad weather and scud running. In the days before GPS’s, we “swooped” over a highway to try and read the sign from above to know where we were, and to figure out what direction to go in.
We were ‘IFR’, “I Follow Roads”.
No, you don't. When I was 24 years old I was repairing some of the most sophisticated aircraft in the world (at the time), some of them loaded with nuclear weapons. And he may have been flying since he was 16.
Flight instructors who are 24 years old. The Federal Aviation Adminstration measures experience by flight hours. Often young polits perform flight instruction to build flight hours. I would need to know more details on this event.
Remember in Texas a B17 and a P63 crashed at an air show. The pilots not only had thousands of hours of flight time, but there was also an “ air boss’ ground controller at the show in contact with both of them. They unfortunately lost sight of each other at a critical time and collided. It’s situational awareness and many factors come into play, attitude of aircraft, speed of aircraft, time of day and weather ( aircraft obscured by the sun or clouds) , and cockpit distraction. Until the NTSB investigation determines which plane struck the other everyone is just guessing. It’s a tragedy.
I hate seeing these stories. My 25 yr old son is a flight instructor near the same area of Florida (Tampa). He nearly has his 1500 flight hours completed and he will be with the airlines in a few weeks.
Why would that be a problem? Do you have any idea what kind of training it takes to be a flight instructor? It is one of hardest ratings to achieve with the FAA.
Classic over wing a/c vs under wing a/c collision.
24 yr old flight instructor. Think I see the problem.
Apparently you’re unaware that the average age of American pilots during WWII was around 20-21.
It’s a miracle they could even get off the ground.
