The business model sucks. The key link in their chain is a driver that is not paid enough and who relies on tips? Tips that are not explained in the price of the service?
A DD driver is a chump for taking the deal and making their business betting on the come.
Most good drivers will take a job if it is at least a dollar a mile, which I think is reasonable. But the clients often think we are employees of the restaurant and think the restaurant should be paying us. DD is sort of like Lyft with food instead of passengers. I can’t tell you how many times a client has reamed me after the fact in a text message for the rotten food. I always politely tell them how to contact Door Dash with their complaint and wish them a much better outcome in the future.
Door Dash is a fun job. I was a legal secretary for 40 years and a fitness trainer, too. When I retired I picked it up for a little extra income, but it is so much fun that I’d do it even if I didn’t need the money. But I am sickened by the drivers who give those of us who care a black eye, and so do so many other good drivers I know.
So does the business model of giving parking priority to curbside customers who are to lazy to waddle into the store to do their own shopping while those who aren’t have a personal shopping cart rammed up their backside every time they stop to get something off of a shelf.
